Bachna_Ae_Haseeno

I watched Bachna Ae Haseeno recently; it is a story revolving around a man and his relationships with three different women. Cast Ranbir Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand of ‘Salaam Namaste’ and ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’ fame and produced by Yash Raj Films. They have tried to position the film as the first film of Bollywood’s much talked about couple Ranbir and Deepika together but they don’t cut ice with me since I am impressed with none of them.

Ranbir plays the role of Raj, a man who has relationships with Mahi, Radhika and Gayatri. Mahi (Manisha Lamba) is sweet, innocent, romantic and truly believes that she could bump into Raj (Shahrukh Khan’s character in DDLJ) anytime. For her life is nothing but a fairy tale with paths of flower carpets. Radhika (Bipasha Basu) is sexy and smart. A girl of today, Radhika is a struggling actress who is looking to make a mark in the film industry. Gayatri (Deepika Padukone) is a cab driver in Australia attending a B School who sets her own rules and does not believe in marriage either. Revolving around these characters the story speaks about the short flings that Raj has with each of the girls and the lessons of love and life that he learns from each one of them.

Minissha’s acting was inconsistent. But I saw a new Bipasha with great maturity in her acting – she is also so much at ease and rhythm with the way she is usually directed – I do not find any trace of vulgarity that she is usually accused of. Ranbir is extremely innocent and good looking but lacks the skill of acting much like John Abraham. For a change I liked Deepika’s acting here.

The movie could have done well if it was released during the Valentine’s Day. There is definitely a message for both guys and girls in love. For boys who are not genuinely committed and move with girls only to have fun, this movie sends a strong message against doing the same and some of them can change for better. Also it sends a positive and inspirational tone for girls who are tormented with break up’s in relationships to get going and begin life in a new perspective, if they have not done so. Thus many Shreyas (played by Bipasha in the second half– the role of a super and much sought after model of the country) would be born from the Radhikas (played by Bipasha in the first half – a struggling actress in film industry without a self identity having a live in relationship with Ranbir who dumps her to run away to Australia for better career) of the world.

You may like to watch the film if you have nothing much to do.

My rating is 3 out of 5.
