The process of getting the recent NSG clearance has once again taken the mask off the Chinese diplomacy . In 60s amidst the Hindi Chini bhai bhai slogan India woke up to the rudest shock of Chinese attacks for which India was not at all prepared . It was just like the Pakistan preparing for Kargil war when Vajpayee and Shariff were signing treaties for greater ties between the two countries . When the ice appeared to have been melting between India and China setting aside the Tibet and other boundary issues , we find the reasons thereof had more to make the 2008 Beijing Olympic more recognised than bringing about a positive shift in their India policy . In the recently concluded NSG negotiations for the nuclear deal ,China joined hands with countries like Ireland, New Zealand and Austria in holding out against the waiver and in fact was leading the dissent from behind . All this time, China remained non-committal on supporting India at the NSG, possibly waiting to gauge the extent of opposition to the India waiver before joining the voices. But in a surprise development on Day 2, China openly asked why countries are being pressured to rush into a waiver for India.
India had to seek interventions from the Americans who then held separate talks with China and had to do some tough talking to finally convince this country . We got the NSG nod finally much to the dismay of our neighbours and some of the political parties in India who have better allegiance to some of our neighbours than their own country ! Besides NSG approval , there has been another gain for India – that is the realization that China can never be a true friend of India and never ever trust them blindly .We must take lessons from history .We dont want history to get repeated !
What do we do now ? In today’s geo political scenario , a full fledged war against India is impossible by any country . Both America and Russia being by our side to a large extent and with India being the world’s foremost democratic country , it is near impossible to wage a war against India. So the real battle ground now shifts to trade and economy . Since at the Government level we are bound by several trade restrictions , at least at individual level let all Indians give a call to boycott all Chinese Goods just like the way we called for boycotting British goods in 40s. This way we can economically weaken the Chinese economy since the Indian market is too huge for China to ignore and on the other side Indian industry especially manufacturing industries in SME segment can survive the onslaught of poor and cheap Chinese goods entering into our territory.
Let’s give a call then – Boycott Chinese goods /Boycott all goods using input from China and also boycott all political parties that keep ties with China.
