Anna Nagar is one of the finest residential localities in Chennai. Being a posh locality, it has become the preferred destination for upper middle class and high net worth individuals. It was during 1960’s this site was identified for conducting World Trade Fair. From then on the locality has developed into a well planned and structured residential locality. The broad roads are designed based on a Matrix structure similar to that of developed countries and the serene calm atmosphere with green canopies of trees on all roads and avenues makes Anna Nagar a walker’s paradise. The places I frequent the most are the Tower Park, Bougainvillea Park and Hotel Saravana Bhavan.  The Bougainvillea park is the widest, cleanest and one of the well manned parks in Chennai.

Exquisite view of the Tower park - a pride of Anna Nagar

Set up in a natural setting perhaps the tower park is  the biggest  park in Chennai, and I prefer going  there for my evening walks.

Climbing the towers is also a good fun and is an alternative to taking the walk.

Hotel Saravana Bhavan is an integral part of Anna Nagar.  Located in 2nd Avenue near Blue Star,  it is one of the best  Saravana Bhavan outlets with a 5 floor dining facility. This brings great relief to the home makers  in Annanagar from the chores of daily cooking or when they are not in the mood  and of course for non south Indians who like to have Pongal, Vada or Filter Coffee in the morning but lacks the courage to ask for it at home! This place also comes to your rescue when you get unexpected guests at home. You can be absolutely safe dining here - hygiene and quality are at their best.

I have been residing in Anna Nagar for quite some time now. Be it shopping or dining out, I have never found a reason to move out of Anna Nagar. The locality has well developed into a self contained township with most of the big names setting up their shops in the high streets of Anna Nagar. Today you can almost shop for anything from Hilsa fish to Crocodile- of course, I am speaking of the branded outfit here.

A Home away from home , residing in Anna Nagar is a soul stirring experience for me.
