Didn’t expect this from you Dada
Everyone around me knows I am a die hard Sourav fan. When Sourav receives the best Asian Cricketer award I feel no less proud than his most ardent follower. When Sourav is out, I turn off the TV. It’s a treat to watch him play, when he is not included in the team, I feel it is not worth wasting time watching the match. Conversely I don’t mind telling lies to my office and take a day off just to watch him play. When he goes out to toss, my prayers perhaps are no less intense than his parents’. Most of the fights I had with my colleagues are over the issues of whether selectors made the right choice in dropping him from the playing eleven. Everytime he makes a come back like a phoenix, I feel that additional flux of adrenalin as if its not Sourav but I am playing on the field. Many do not know, I almost wept when Calcutta Knight Riders could not make it to the final four on the IPL league – not because of King Khan but because of its captain our own dada. So much so that I don’t leave Kolkata without visiting your restaurant Sourav’s.
But when I see Sourav giving statement that he would not any longer play for Bengal unless some sections of the office bearers of CAB stops troubling his family, I am utterly shocked. You are the greatest come back man of world sports. Everytime when critics and even the fans write you off, you come back with an unprecedented knock. So many times you made a clown out of Kiran More and his team of selectors through your bat that no way I can believe any of the CAB officials can cause any trouble to our family and rather no one would dare so.
The conclusion is that you are simply getting into the trap of CAB politics. Prasun Mukherjee and his team in power at the CAB are desperate to prove time and again that they are really useless and determined to completely ruin the Bengal Cricket. Failure to smoothly conduct the IPL tournament (underprepared pitch where the away team gets better advantage than the home team, flood lights stop working not just once, stadium roof falls apart in storm, unprepared to manage the ground in rains), the Bengal team going down in its national ranking in the last season - the worst ever performance I can think of, and now the continued idiotic conduct in appointing the coach for the Bengal team.
The saga of the previous year continues with this year their failing to get W V Raman as their coach and they don’t have any one else as a stand by. CAB and the Bengal cricket is at its lowest ebb and only panacea today could be one and only one Jagmohan Dalmiya who brought Bengal cricket to an enviable place of pride. But for the Indian crab syndrome that pulled down Dalmiya Bengal cricket today would have snatched the title of Mecca of cricket from Mumbai.
Request Sourav to please focus on your game and stay away from CAB politics. You still have lot of cricket left in you . We have great hopes around you – old ,young alike. You are our role models. We are praying to see your best in coming test series in Sri Lanka.
All the best Sourav.
