Anna University ,Chennai is the world’s largest technical University housing College of Engineering, Guindy - world’s second oldest technical institute

Anna University was formed by bringing together close to four hundred affiliated self financed engineering colleges and integrating the following four well-known technical institutions :   

• College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG)(1794)
• Madras Institute of Technology , Chrompet (MIT)(1949)
• Alagappa College of Technology (ACT)(1944)
• School of Architecture and Planning (SAP)(1957)

The College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG) was started in May 1794 as a School of Survey and established as a college in 1859 under the Madras University, being the oldest technical Institute in India and the second oldest in the world.

We made a courtesy call on the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof.P.Mannar Jawahar in July 2008. After his schooling and B.Sc course at Madurai, he did his Undergraduate Engineering Course in Automobile Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology , M.E (Mechanical Engineering) from P.S.G College of Technology, Coimbatore and Ph.D from I.I.T Delhi in "Vehicle Dynamics" . Subsequently he did his Post Doctoral Research work at Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. He joined as a faculty at Anna University in 1978.

Having started the automotive and aerospace centre of excellence , we have many areas of collaboration with Anna University.
