As usual this year too I did not miss the Gollapudi Srinivas award function.Paresh Mokashi  won the best debut director award in 2009 for his film Harishchandra’s Factory inspired by the life of Dada Saheb Phalke  and the begining of Indian cinema in 1914. The film broadly captures a common man’s adventure to do uncommon things.

Also seen in the picture Oscar award winner Resul Pookutty ,Rang De Basanti director Rakesh Mehta and Dr Yesudas

IMG_1275 She can still make the heads turn -  eight to eighty alike !

Rekha of course belonged to my previous generation

I was not too impressed with Shruti Hassan’s compering. Considering her pedigree , her voice training , accent and overall stage confidence could have been better. Anyway she has plenty of time left to improve. Also she bears the  big  burden of being Kamal Hassan’s daughter .While I was busy clicking Rekha , Aniket took his turn to click Shruti!

Yesudas’s rendering in the begining of the function was a real  treat especially the one Swamy smaraney Aiyappa .

No wonder  Resul Pukutty’s Oscar acceptance speech was rated the best ! Very unassuming , he explained the art of sound recording with all his heart , no great articulation  or diction , he just let loose his  great passion – let’s call it sound of silence !
